Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy

How does it work?

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) is an evidence based method, combing elements of CBT with hypnosis, which can be used to treat a number of issues, including phobias, habit reversal, self limiting beliefs, confidence building, performance and social anxiety.

There are many myths associated with hypnosis - the main one being that you are 'put under' or into a 'trance', giving the impression that you are not in control of what happens to you during the treatment. The reverse is in fact true and the natural 'state' that occurs when hypnosis is induced by the therapist is one of highly focused attention. This focus is initially placed on achieving a deep and pleasant state of relaxation before being directed to the issue to be addressed. Delivered by the therapist verbally the induction and suggestions will have been designed together by the client and the therapist. The client remains in control and fully aware at all times.

There is much evidence to show that CBH is a highly effective, short term therapy, which generally shows positive results after one to three sessions. Call or email for more information or discuss with me at an initial consultation to see if this approach may suit you
